Atmospheric Monitoring for High-Risk Environments

UAV-based field system

A modular UAV air sampling system developed by Oleksandr Semiriakov to collect atmospheric data in hazardous and hard-to-reach environments.

The problem

A new approach to environmental data collection

"Environmental risks rarely happen in convenient places."

A device for remote atmospheric air sampling mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle. The system features a drum-type filtration mechanism with multiple isolated filter elements in a rotating barrel, enabling collection of separate air samples at different mission points during a single flight.

Additionally includes a sensor package with a crystal-based gamma spectrometer connected to a GPS navigator combining atmospheric sampling with radiation monitoring and precise geo-referenced data.

The integrated gamma spectrometer and navigator connect each air sample to precise coordinates — creating geo-referenced environmental data rather than isolated measurements.

Dual monitoring

Air sampling + gamma radiation

Key innovation

Multi-sample collection in one flight

Unlike single-sample systems, the drum mechanism switches between isolated filter elements mid-flight — enabling data collection across multiple zones and risk points in a single mission.
